WHAT IS THE NERVOUS SYSTEM? The nervous system is broken down into two sections. The two parts are central nervous system and peripheral nervous system. The central nervous system has two main organs, the brain and the spinal cord. The brain processes and interprets information sent from the spinal cord. The peripheral nervous system carries instructions from your brain to your limbs. The peripheral nervous system allows you to control your muscles and joints but it also sends all the information from your senses back to your brain.

BRAIN- THINKING, PERCEPTION, EMOTION, BEHAVIOR, PHYSICAL, SIGNALING SPINAL CORD- CONNECTS BRAIN TO THE BODY NERVES- SENSORY INPUT, INTEGRATION, MOTOR OUTPUT. NEURONS- COMMUNICATION THROUGH THE BODY. The path through your body

PATH THROUGH THE BODY Stimuli > sensory > reception > Central Nervous system > relay neuron > brain > effector or motor neuron If the relay neuron goes to the brain, then it goes to the motor neuron after the brain. But the relay neuron my also skip the brain, and go strait to motor neuron.

TYPES OF DISEASE OR DISORDERS Neurofibromatosis is the name for a group of related genetic disorders that affect tissues of the nervous system. Multiple Sclerosis is a disease whereby the central nervous system components break down and degenerate. Parkinson's disease is when nerve cells in the brain don't produce enough of a brain chemical called dopamine. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a progressive wasting away of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal column that control the muscles that allow movement. Alzheimer's disease is a progressive condition that damages areas of the brain involved in memory, intelligence, judgment, language, and behavior. NOTE: When something goes wrong with a part of your nervous system, you can have trouble moving, speaking, swallowing, breathing, or learning. SYMTOMS: Confusion, memory loss, altered behavior, babbling speech, or decreased, Blood supply problems, Injuries, especially injuries to the head and spinal cord. Exposure to toxins, such as carbon monoxide, arsenic, or lead.

FACTS  The nervous system signals from one cell to another, or from one part of the body to another.  The two parts of the nervous system is central nervous system and peripheral nervous system.  Nervous system is made up of neurons and glial cells.  The nervous system can transmit signals at 100 meters per second.  There are millions of nerve cells in the human body.  Sponges have no nervous system.  The neurons in the human brain are more than 100 billion in count.  The right side of the brain controls the left side of the body and the left side of the brain controls the right side of body.  Neurons grow at the rate of 250,000 per minute in a child developing inside the womb.
