Secretariat The main spokesperson of the UN is the Secretary-General The current Secretary-General is Ban Ki-moon of South Korea Secretariat based in NY It employs 1000s of people It does all the admin work of the UN

THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COUNCIL Its function is to try and achieve the third UN aim – to stop human suffering It has been much more successful than the other UN bodies There are more than 30 agencies that report to the ESC Examples of these agencies : WHO, FAO, UNESCO, UNICEF This humanitarian work has managed to keep the UN name in tact at times when they have failed at achieving their first two aims Most of their work is in developing countries, particularly Africa
