Presentation transcript:

IT’S GREAT TO HAVE YOU HERE!!! WELCOME TO MY CLASSROOM!!!

TTA-DA I AM ACTUALLY RETIRED. II CAME BACK BECAUSE I ENJOY MY JOB. OOF COURSE I’M OF THE AGE I DON’T PUT UP WITH PROBLEMS II SIMPLY DEAL WITH THEM.

LIKE I SAID:

 This could be a time of great:  Confusion  Anger  Happiness  Fear  Joy  And a whole bunch of other feelings  All in all you WILL probably experience all of these.

AND GUESS WHAT??? It’s perfectly OK. It means you are----- Oh No Normal WHATEVER NORMAL IS!!!

WHAT WILL I NEED FOR THIS CLASS?????? A THREE SUBJECT NOTEBOOK LOOSE LEAF PAPER MAP PENCILS

 Lots of Paper!!!!  A calculator with trig functions.  Graph paper ( Not a lot)  A three ring binder ( Cheap!!!!!)

OF COURSE THERE ARE RULES I AM “OLD SCHOOL” WELL MAYBE NOT THAT OLD SCHOOL. BUT STILL:

I AM NOT YOUR MOMMY AND DADDY You will have to learn that the “ rules ”are not the same!!!!

FOR INSTANCE: Your parents may let you or even encourage you to argue. HOW WEIRD IS THAT? They may tell you that you have a “right” to “voice” your opinion.

TRUST ME: IT ISN’T HAPPENING IN MY CLASSROOM. I DO NOT ARGUE WITH CHILDREN.

 If I ask you to do something I mean:  RIGHT NOW.  Without Comment  And a smile on your face.  I probably have a good reason for it.

 IF I tell you to jump out the window………..  The school is probably on fire!!!!!!!!

REMEMBER YOU ARE A CHILD AND I AM THE ADULT.

CHILD: DEFINITION 1. A young human being below the age of full physical development or below the legal age of majority. 2. A son or daughter of any age.

ALSO LOCATION TELLS US HOW TO ACT: SCREAMING PROBABLY IS OK. YOU OUGHT TO BE SILENT

NOW LET’S GO OVER THE WORD “FAIR” GET USED TO IT.

 I WILL TREAT EVERYONE FAIRLY. So now that we know how to function, let’s see the “rules”

HERE THEY ARE: I AM YES SIR AND NO SIR. RESPECT IS NOT ONLY REQUIRED BUT DEMANDED. I WILL RESPECT YOU, I EXPECT THE SAME IN RETURN. ( SALUTING IS NOT NECESSARY )

 MOST OF THEM ARE MINE!!!! MOST OF IT DOES NOT BELONG TO YOU.

STANDARD CLASSROOM RULES WILL APPLY: RAISE YOUR HAND WHEN YOU WISH TO SPEAK!!! DO NOT INTERRUPT OTHERS

AND ONWARD WE GO!!!! STAY IN YOUR SEAT AT ALL TIMES PLEASE. DO NOT LEAVE IT WITHOUT PERMISSION. I DISMISS THE CLASS NOT THE BELL

PUT THE PHONE AWAY!!!!!! Actually don’t even take it out please. If I collect it you may retrieve it from the office. For 15 dollars!!! Then Mom and Dad!!!

MAKE-UP? REALLY? REALLY? Actually it’s a safety issue….. Get ready for another incredible story!!!

AS FAR AS SUPPLIES ARE CONCERNED: Check out my contract: I AM NOT Wal Mart. It is not up to me to make sure you have supplies.

MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR SUPPLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes students have trouble with this one.

 THIS OR THIS YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE CREDIT!!!!!!

AND DO NOT FORGET: It really does not matter what brand, but get the basic 8 pack at least. And calculators are relatively inexpensive these days.

BUT HOW WILL I BE GRADED? DAILY GRADES WILL BE COUNTED ONCE TESTS WILL COUNT TWICE AND A HALF!?!?

TO CONTINUE LABS WILL BE COUNTED TWICE AND YOUR TBAT WILL BE COUNTED ONCE

AND DO NOT EVER BE IN THIS SITUATION!!!!! YOU ARE WHAT YOU DECIDE TO BE!!

ALWAYS EXPECT THE BEST FROM YOURSELF If you insist on doing less that is probably what you will end up with!!!!!!

 Each day when you come in there will be a “TBAT” on the board.  This is what we will be doing that day. This way there will be no doubt what we are doing.

 It stands for “To Be Able To”.  When we are done at the end of the day you SHOULD have done or be able to do the TBAT.

WHEN WE ARE DONE: Papers go in the appropriate tray. Did I mention NEATLY?????

When I tell you and class is over You WILL stack books neatly on the shelves.

IIf it is in RED it will be on a test somewhere. PPUT IT IN YOUR NOTEBOOK UNLESS I SAY DIFFERENT!!!! HHow do we arrange our binder? FFirst--- NOTES SSecond---- TBATs TThird---- Paper for assignments.

Check the board each day to see if you need a book.

WHAT ELSE??? AN OPEN MIND IMAGINATION!!!!! A WORK ETHIC

And always keep in mind: This is NOT a court of law. You only have the rights I give you. Some are: The right to feel safe. The right to a good education The right for respect. The right to do your best.

 My word is the final verdict.

AND DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT YOU HEARD. ( OR SAW) CHECK THINGS OUT FOR YOURSELF: Is it an old lady or young woman?

AGAIN WELCOME TO MY CLASS I AM SO GLAD YOU ARE HERE!!!!
