The Social Library Twitter, Delicious and FriendFeed

The Social Web  Beyond Blogging  Microblogging  Building your own online brand  New tools give you more results in less time  Easier to build community with new tools

Conversation Engage in the conversation. Make sure you are in the right conversation! This is not the place to be defensive, arrogant, severe or any other librarian stereotype.

Who Are You?  Library should have specific account for itself.  Do not combine official library account with personal account.  Build a library brand online as well as your own personal professional brand.

Brand Building Tips  Use the same username on all social sites. Best if it is your real name.  Use a real photo of yourself.  Respond to comments.  Be consistent.  Be authentic.  Link, link, link.

Beware!  Do not expect immediate results!  Use tools to save time.  Monitor what is being said about you.  Be open to new applications – but not too open.

Delicious Delicious.com Social bookmarking Tagging Use for your library’s collection of websites
