Timeline: Typical Timeframe Time Before Enrolment Notes Spring / Summer - End of Lower Sixth 1 – 1 ½ Years Begin researching and choosing universities Sit admissions tests if possible Autumn of Upper Sixth Months Finalise your selection of 4-6 universities Sit admissions tests Attend USA College Day (1 October 2011) Autumn of Upper Sixth 8-10 Months Submit admissions applications (Early deadlines in November; Regular deadlines in January – March) Submit funding applications Spring of Upper Sixth 4-7 Months Receive admissions decisions (Late December for early deadlines; 1 April at the latest for regular deadlines) Summer Before Enrollment 1-3 Months Notify universities by 1 May Apply for your visa Late August--Begin study in the US!
