My Background Beginning of my 7 th year at Dobson High School Prior to Dobson, worked and taught at Northwestern State University in Louisiana Bachelors degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Iowa State Masters of Science in Recreation and Sports Administration from Aurora University

HE 91: Prevention & Care of Athletic Injuries First class in the CTE Sports Medicine Program 2 year program with the choice to have a third class of CT 91 Internship (working in the high school athletic training room and chance to work with collegiate athletes at ASU)

Why take this class and Sports Medicine program? Students that are interested in the medical field – Past students have gone into nursing, physical therapy, pre-medicine and athletic training Students that are active – Help recognize injuries, proper nutrition, strength and conditioning. Past students have become coaches.

What will they learn this year? Risk Management of Athletic Injuries – Conditioning – Nutrition – Environmental – Equipment – Taping Management Skills of an Injury – On the field and off the field evaluations – Treatment of injuries

What students need Binder for each semester Willing and eager to learn

Policies and Procedures Each student will receive: – Syllabus – Policy and Procedure sheet Students will sign that they have read and understand At the 3, 6 and 8 week mark students will have a grade check in which they will have to log onto their portal and get guardian sign off
