Primary Sports Medicine Team Athletic Trainer Athlete Coach Physician Parent The athlete is the main concern!! They often get caught in the middle Communication is Key!! It is the most important aspect of the Team

Athletic Trainer Most intimately involved with the athlete Deals with the athlete from initial injury to return to play (1 Day-12 Months) Roles are: Prevention Evaluate Treat Rehab Administration Counseling and Guidance Professional Development

Athlete Do what is asked of you Work Hard Show up everyday Have a good attitude (Be Positive) Be Respectful of everyone

Coach Is directly responsible for preventing injuries Teach proper form and technique Must be 1 st aid and CPR certified Be aware of environmental factors A COACH SHOULD COACH and let the ATHLETIC TRAINER DO THEIR JOB, have RESPECT for each other!!

Physician Ultimately responsible for directing the overall health of the athletes Athletic Trainer works under the Physician’s supervision Physician should be an advisor and supervisor to the ATC and the Coach. They have the final say regarding an injury!!

Physician Continued Compile Medical Histories, Physicals Diagnose Injuries Determine playing status or disqualification Attend games when possible
