A little about me…. I graduated from St. Joseph’s University with a B.S. in elementary education 5 years later, I graduated from St. Joseph’s University with a masters in reading education – reading specialist certificate After graduation, I taught for 8 years in a Catholic elementary school in Fishtown, Philadelphia. I took about three years off to stay home with my children. I have three – a daughter and two sons. This is now my 13 th year in Garnet Valley.
Course syllabus Course of Study: Units in the reading curriculum: - Making Connections -Clarifying-Evaluating -Predicting -Questioning-Visualizing Study Skills: -test prep for all curriculum areas -homework help -organizational strategies -strategies for studying effectively PSSA prep -strategies to answer standardized test questions -vocabulary development -test anxiety strategies
Course syllabus Grading: Point System -Quizzes- Class work- PSSA prep -Comprehension checks-Teenbiz and Study Island Homework Policy: The only homework students will be held responsible for is Teenbiz and Study Island points if the required amount is not achieved during weekly lab time. Expectations: -be on time for class -be respectful of everyone -ask for help when needed for all academic classes -be willing and open to new ideas
