5 iPad Contract With the continuing effort to implement technology to enhance the learning experiences of our students, Garnet Valley is pleased to announce the iPad initiative and the utilization of digital resources in reading support classes! It will be a fun year watching our students learn and connect with the global community, while investigating new ideas and new learning methods. While using different iPad applications, it is important for students to understand these are not personal iPads; rather, they are used for classroom material and learning only. For this reason, please review the following guidelines: – All school policies regarding internet usage and computer usage as stated in the Student Handbook apply. – Students will be assigned the use of ONE iPad. They are responsible for the material on the iPad, and the care of their iPad during their class period. – Each student is responsible for the iPads to be plugged into their correct spot in the vault at end of class. – Absolutely NO APPLICATIONS (games or otherwise) will be downloaded or added to the iPad without the approval of Mrs. Cunningham, Mrs. Bienkowski, or Mrs. Uhrig. – Pictures that are copied, downloaded, or scanned must be for classroom use only. NO USE OF PHOTOBOOTH OR THE CAMERA IS PERMITTED. Any pictures found taken with PhotoBooth during your class period will be subject for iPad use dismissal. Remember, these are not your personal iPads. Memory space is at a premium and must be reserved for student work only. – Rule #5 also applies to video that is downloaded or created. Be sure it is school and assignment-related. – Absolutely no social media will be used on these iPads without the express permission of Mrs. Bienkowski, Mrs. Cunningham, or Mrs. Uhrig. If you are found abusing this and visiting social media sites during class time, you will lose your iPad privilege for the year. – The HOME and LOCK screens are not to be changed. – Students will use Shelfari, an online bookshelf to keep track of books they have read and would like to read. – Two violations of the above policy will result in a suspension of your use of the iPad. You will complete assignments using only pen and paper for a minimum of four weeks. – These iPads have the potential to revolutionize the way we conduct class and how you learn. Remember that this is their purpose, and respect the fact that you have special access to these in reading class.
