Greening Your Holidays! Gifts Decorations Entertaining
Gifts Give an experience or membership Handmade items Items made with sustainable/environmentally friendly materials Buy local Use recycled wrapping paper and recycle the paper you get Buy rechargeable batteries Bring a reusable bag when shopping or combine purchases into one bag
Decorations Living tree or cut your own locally Recycle your tree Minimize electric lights – traditional cranberry and popcorn string! Put lights on a timer LED Christmas lights – avoid icicle lights Send E-cards
Entertaining Recycle everything. Asks guests to bring canned goods to donate. Use regular dishes instead of disposable one. If you must use disposables, use dishes made out of recycled paper not plastic. Turn down the heat a few degrees when cooking and before guests arrive.
