The Last Dog Part I The setting: Earth in the future Brock is the main character and he is naturally more curious than the others He asks to go out into the world to do scientific research The Earth is supposed to be poisonous, so he has to wear a special protective suit He has a scanner, which identifies the new emotions that he’s having

Warm-Up 1. Why do you think people have pets? 2. Why do you animals make good companions? 3. Brock is afraid of losing his “scientific objectivity” in the story, what do you think this is, and what would be so dangerous about losing it? 4. How do our emotions change the way we make decisions? 5. Do our emotions always help us to make the best decisions? Why or why not?
