10. “I can generate thoughtful questions about the editorial” Levels of Questions 1 st Level Question: When was the Treaty of Neah Bay signed? A 1 st level question has only one right answer that is found in the text.

11. 2 nd Level Question: What “side” does the author find most important? A 2 nd level question can have more than one correct answer that is found in the text.

12. 3 rd Level Questions: If the Makah were hunting a different type of animal, do you think protestors would still be so upset? A 3 rd level question applies information from the text to a situation outside of the text. It is very difficult to give an incorrect answer to a 3 rd level question.
