Referrals have increased-51% in last 3 years Increase in complexity/Urgent referrals. Currently not enough capacity to meet demand (CAMHS receive 6% of the mental health budget)

Declined Referrals CAMHS only decline if the referral does not meet criteria Acceptance is based on the information provided We seek to signpost where criteria is not met If unsure phone our consultation line There are less “other” agencies available

Provision of A Good Service CQC Inspection January 2015 Outstanding for Care Good for Leadership Positive comments on participation and new ideas

The Impact of Stigma and Discrimination A quarter of young people (26%) said that stigma had made them want to give up on life. 27% said that the discrimination they have faced has made them give up on their life ambitions. 70% of young people surveyed have faced stigma and discrimination from their friends. Stigma stops young people hanging out with friends (54%) having a relationship (40%) and even going to school (40%) (source: 2012 on-line survey of 1,132 YP aged 14-25 with direct experience of Mental Health problems and in touch with Time to Change)

So how are we responding?

ACE Advise, Consultancy and Experience (ACE) . Those young people and families who may be interested in involvement with shaping local services including: Interviewing new staff Supporting training of staff Commenting on strategy Supporting CAMHS to achieve meaningful feedback Presentations at schools / conferences Buddying / Mentoring others

Criteria for Involvement Application Informal interview Meet a “wellness” criteria References DBS as appropriate Induction Relevant training Honorary contracts with Trust Quarterly reflective practice/access to link person

Virtual - Advise Consultancy and Experience CAMHS are seeking to increase the involvement of relevant stakeholders in shaping and improving services. Representing themselves or the views of others Those interested or involved with YP emotional or psychological wellbeing, to include clinical i.e. GPs, and Health Visitors, non clinical professionals i.e. teachers and community leaders i.e. churches, sports, youth and arts programmes Involvement would include, surveys, commenting on strategy, focus groups and more

Fit Fest CAMHS in cooperation with colleagues are organising a youth event on 10th & 11th July 2015 called “Fit Fest”. To engage young people in taking an active part, interest and responsibility in their own holistic wellbeing. To provide information in a way that is engaging and non-threatening. To present information that recognises young people’s physical, spiritual, psychological, and emotional health and the contribution that each component has on their positive mental health. To engage young people and families in an event that is fun, inspirational and relevant. This responds to recent feedback from young people who have requested more information that supports their wellbeing and which other organizations could support them.

Self Help App Hampshire CAMHS are developing a Mobile Phone App to provide support to Young People on the go. This is an exciting new Project with many Young People involved. The App will provide Young People with information about available services as well as strategies to help them cope at difficult times.
