Master Design’s Backwards Model Lesson SuccessfulChanges must be made Lesson Objectives Materials Available MediaResources Students Using the ARCS Model Goals and Standards County & State Assessment BenchmarksUnit Tests Revise Instruction Accommodations or modifications

Justification for Design Model Backwards approach – look at assessments (often mandated by district/state) and goals/standards first in order to ensure the lesson aligned with the standards assessment. Used ARCS model to analyze students and design instruction because it utilized the best strategies for instruction – it considered the learners’ mindset (Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, 1943).

Justification continued This model follows the ADDIE Framework and consists of all of the ADDIE components: –analysis of assessments, objectives, learners –development and design of instructional materials and strategies –implementation of the plan –and evaluation and revision of the overall plan.
