space4u Counselling Service For Children & Young People 29/08/2015

How it can help  To help young people/children develop into independent, self - confident adults.  To offer face to face counselling & group work in a confidential setting.  To give young people the opportunity to understand themselves & what is happening around them.  To identify strategies to deal with bullying, family breakups and traumatic events.  To be an early intervention in preventing more serious mental illness and social difficulties.  Improve young peoples communication and improve self esteem.  Help those deal with feelings of depression, anxiety and worry.  Reduce self destruction thoughts and behaviour amongst children and young people. 29/08/2015

Referral Checklist  Young people yrs  Must explicitly state that they want to come.  Have access to a space4u counsellor. 29/08/2015

Space4u What’s on offer 29/08/2015  Counselling at partnership schools/community centres that is professional and reliable.  Flexible payment plans  Counsellors that are fully insured and managed by space4u.  Consultation concerning issues of youth counselling i.e. confidentiality, data protection etc.  Cover if the counsellor requires to be absent due to illness over a period of time.  Expert clinical supervision is provided to all counsellors. Space4u monitors good practice.

Remember  Referrals  All must come in on a referral form and signed by the young person.  Assessment  Initial meeting, opportunity to find out more about service, talk about problem/ issues & to make a decision whether service is appropriate.  Waiting List  Most young people will expect to wait for a few weeks before they are offered an appointment.  Contract  Between Counsellor & young person/ Within Group. 29/08/2015

Space4u Outreach Counselling  One to one counselling available in schools, colleges & Community venues  Referrals can be made via the school, college, centre or partnership organisations.  Referrals can be made by the young person or by a worker/ teacher/parent with the young persons consent.  This service is available term time only. 29/08/2015
