Disorders of the Male Reproductive System

Sterility when a person is unable to reproduce both males and females may be sterile Some males are unable to healthy sperm, this can be caused by environmental factors that exposures to chemicals Mature males who develop mumps Medical research is still ongoing pertaining to sterility

Inguinal Hernia A hernia occurs when an organ of the body pushes outward through the wall that contains it Inguinal hernia is caused when part of the intestine pushes into the scrotum Surgery is necessary

Enlarged Prostate Common in middle aged men can cause pain or discomfort Does not indicate a disease or illness Since it surrounds the urethra it can make urination painful. Surgery is required

Undescended Testes When one of the testes do not descend into the scrotum at birth because the testes temperature may be too high this may inhibit the production of sperm or healthy sperm This can be corrected by surgery or even hormones

Cancer of testes and prostate An area of uncontrolled cell growth that invades and destroys tissue Surgical removal is usually necessary
