 1) Regular Forms have four forms. Base Form-s Form-ing Form (Present particle) -ed Form (Past Form or Past Participle) WorkWorksWorkingWorked WatchWatchesWatchingWatched ApplyAppliesApplyingapplied

 2) Irregular verbs have from three to eight forms Base Form -s Form-ing Form ( Present Participle) Past FormPast Participle BringBringsBringingBrought LayLaysLayingLaid SwimSwimsSwimmingSwamSwum LieLiesLyingLaylain

1) Simple tenses have many uses, not all related to specific points in time. Simple Present tense- uses the base form ( work) and the –s form in third person singular (works). Ex: I work. You work. He works. Simple Past tense of regular verbs has only one form: the base form with the -ed ending (worked). Ex: I worked. You worked. They worked. Like the simple past tense, the simple future tense has only one form: the base form accompanied by the auxiliary will. Ex: I will work. You will work. They will work.

 2)Progressive tenses indicate that events have begun but have not been completed The present progressive tense consists of a form of the auxiliary verb be and the present participle (-ing form) of the main verb. Ex: I am working. You are working. They are working The past progressive tense signals an action or event that occurred in the past and was repeated or ongoing. Ex: I was working. You were working. They were working The Future progressive tense only has one form. Two auxiliaries, will and be, are used along with the –ing ending form of the main verb. Ex I will be working. You will be working. They will be working.

 3) Perfect tenses indicate action performed prior to a particular time.  Present Perfect tense is formed by combining the auxiliary have with the past participle of the main verb.  Ex: I have worked. You have worked. They have worked.  The past perfect tense is formed by combining the past tense of have with the past form of the verb.  Ex: I had worked. You had worked. They had worked.  The future present tense consists of two auxiliaries, will and have, along with the past tense of the main verb.  Ex: I will have worked. You will have worked. They will have worked.

 When a verb is in the active voice, the subject is generally a person or thing performing an action. Whenever is in the passive voice, the subject is the receiver of the action.  Susan Smith wrote the essay. ( active voice)  The essay was written by Susan Smith. (passive voice)

 The indicative mood is used for statements and questions regarding fact or opinion. The imperative mood is used to give commands or directions. The subjunctive mood is used to state requirements, make requests, expresses wishes, and signal hypothetical situations. ◦ Indicative: We will be on time. ◦ Imperative: Be on time! ◦ Subjunctive: The director insists that we be on time.
