Bell Ringer #2 Monday, September 12th Write down at least 6 specific points of geography that you would find around the world.

After today… Students will be able to define the term Geography. Students will be able to list the 5 themes of Geography. Students will be able to see the connection between Geography AND Culture.

GEOGRAPHY Geography is the study of where people, places, and things are located and how they relate to one another.

Hey Dude I like to surf. I like to sail boats. I like clams and mussels. I like to wear flip flops. I like baseball.

#1 - Location Location is a places position on the Earth’s surface. We can determine exact location by longitude and latitude.

#2 - Place Geographers describe PLACES in terms of their physical and human characteristics. Physical – Schuylkill & Delaware rivers. Human – Historical City

#3 - Interaction Wherever people live they both change and adapt to their environment. Examples?

#4 - Movement Another theme of Geography is the movement of people, goods and ideas. Immigration is a form of movement.

#5 - Region A Region is an area with its own unifying characteristics. These unifying features can be physical or human. Latin America?

Class Exercise Working with a partner you will complete the Themes of Geography worksheet. Some questions can be answered using the Textbook. Other questions require you to THINK ON YOUR OWN! Do your Best!!!!!!!!!
