doc.: IEEE /0148r0 AgendaRich Kennedy, MediaTek Abstract This presentation is the to inform the IEEE WG of the liaison with 3GPP TSG-RAN, specifically to support our efforts to understand LAA-LTE and efforts to ensure coexistence with ac January 2015 Slide 2
doc.: IEEE /0148r0 Agenda Origins In March of 2014 IEEE 802 sent a liaison to 3GPP to request information on LTE-U (now LAA-LTE) to assess its potential impact on IEEE devices The 802 Chair decided that we should provide input to 3GPP on our experience with coexistence in unlicensed spectrum, and tasked with developing the document Working with members of all of the 802 wireless WGs, a document was created, approved by the EC and sent to 3GPP in November 2014 The 50-slide document is 19-15/0080r2 – learned.ppthttps://mentor.ieee.org/802.19/dcn/14/ coexistence-lessons- learned.ppt January 2015 Rich Kennedy, MediaTekSlide 3
doc.: IEEE /0148r0 Agenda Status The Chair was invited, and spoke to the 3GPP TSG-RAN in December, and invited its Chair to present to us in January Dino Flore presented “3GPP & unlicensed spectrum” to 802 in an meeting this week – and-unlicensed-spectrum.pdfhttps://mentor.ieee.org/802.19/dcn/15/ gpp- and-unlicensed-spectrum.pdf The plan is to continue the communications between our groups, and have Dino return after their Study Item completes in June January 2015 Rich Kennedy, MediaTekSlide 4
doc.: IEEE /0148r0 Agenda Going Forward A process for developing future liaisons with 3GPP has been established, awaiting EC approval (next slide) will continue to manage this process, with inputs from any interested parties among members of all IEEE 802 WGs January 2015 Rich Kennedy, MediaTekSlide 5

At least 10 day notice is required to schedule a conference call. The chair will notify other WG chairs at the beginning of the session that will be working on a liaison and members of any WG can participate During the session a liaison can be drafted based on contributions Approval in at the end of the session will require a 75% approval rate. All participants in the room can vote The Executive Committee will vote to approve the Liaison –At Plenary sessions, approval during Friday Closing EC meeting –At Interim sessions, approval using an EC electronic ballot after the session –The EC has authority to make changes to the liaison
