Coexistence Lessons Learned – Update
September 2014 Coexistence Lessons Learned – Update Date: Authors: Notice: This document has been prepared to assist IEEE It is offered as a basis for discussion and is not binding on the contributing individual(s) or organization(s). The material in this document is subject to change in form and content after further study. The contributor(s) reserve(s) the right to add, amend or withdraw material contained herein. Release: The contributor grants a free, irrevocable license to the IEEE to incorporate material contained in this contribution, and any modifications thereof, in the creation of an IEEE Standards publication; to copyright in the IEEE’s name any IEEE Standards publication even though it may include portions of this contribution; and at the IEEE’s sole discretion to permit others to reproduce in whole or in part the resulting IEEE Standards publication. The contributor also acknowledges and accepts that this contribution may be made public by IEEE Patent Policy and Procedures: The contributor is familiar with the IEEE 802 Patent Policy and Procedures < ieee802.org/guides/bylaws/sb-bylaws.pdf>, including the statement "IEEE standards may include the known use of patent(s), including patent applications, provided the IEEE receives assurance from the patent holder or applicant with respect to patents essential for compliance with both mandatory and optional portions of the standard." Early disclosure to the TAG of patent information that might be relevant to the standard is essential to reduce the possibility for delays in the development process and increase the likelihood that the draft publication will be approved for publication. Please notify the Chair as early as possible, in written or electronic form, if patented technology (or technology under patent application) might be incorporated into a draft standard being developed within the IEEE TAG. September 2014 Abstract The purpose of this presentation is to provide a update to IEEE on the Coexistence Lessons Learned presentation development Steve Shellhammer, Qualcomm
September 2014 Liaisons with 3GPP IEEE 802 and 3GPP have exchanged several liaisons in the last few months These liaisons are available on the IEEE 802 web page, In the s between 3GPP and IEEE 802 it was suggested that IEEE 802 present its “Lessons Learned” on Coexistence at a future 3GPP meeting Most recently, this week another liaison was received notifying IEEE 802 that 3GPP has approved a Study Item (SI) on “Licensed Assisted Access using LTE” Steve Shellhammer, Qualcomm
Coexistence Lessons Learned Presentation
September 2014 Coexistence Lessons Learned Presentation The IEEE 802 Chair (Paul Nikolich) has requested that a presentation on Coexistence Lessons Learned be developed for presentation at a future 3GPP meeting The Chair has requested that the presentation be completed by the November Plenary session IEEE has hosted meetings in July and September, as well as holding conference calls Several contributions have been prepared Updates have been generated based on discussions this week Results combined into document /68r2 Steve Shellhammer, Qualcomm

Summary Slide – Feedback on 3GPP Doc. RP-141664
September 2014 Summary Slide – Feedback on 3GPP Doc. RP 3GPP has identified the key challenge for successful spectrum sharing between LAA and Wi-Fi 3GPP has identified a useful initial definition of fairness Fairness is important to IEEE 802 Fairness is important to 3GPP LBT provides a good starting point for fair sharing between LAA and Wi-Fi IEEE 802 wants to work with 3GPP to achieve consensus on Wi-Fi/LAA sharing Steve Shellhammer, Qualcomm
Presentation from the 802 Chair
September 2014 Presentation from the 802 Chair During the Wednesday PM2 IEEE meeting the IEEE 802 chair (Paul Nikolich) will give a presentation (via a phone call) regarding a presentation he made at a recent technical conference (PIMRC2014) Document /69r0 Steve Shellhammer, Qualcomm
September 2014 Conference Calls IEEE will continue to host Coexistence Lessons Learned conference calls between the September and November IEEE meetings At the November Plenary we will finalize the CLL presentation Steve Shellhammer, Qualcomm
