Plain and Simple

 Are words that describe a verb.  They modify verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs.

 How?  When?  Where?  How Often?  How Sure?

 Common Adverbs:  Fast, slowly, well, badly, carefully, patiently, and right.  Students had to patiently wait in the cafeteria before going to class.

 Common Adverbs:  Yesterday, tomorrow, afterwards, now, early, late, and then.  Tomorrow will be Friday, and we will continue to read Rikki-Tikki-Tavi.

 Common Adverbs:  Here, there, up, down, in, but, inside, together, back, and away.  We stayed inside today as it was very cold outside.

 Common Adverbs:  Always, usually, often, sometimes, seldom, and never.  You should always complete your classwork and homework on time.

 Common Adverbs:  Certainly, definitely, probably, perhaps, maybe, and possibly.  You definitely need to try and bring in canned goods for the food drive, so that 7 th grade can successfully win.

 Make the word they modify stronger or weaker.  Common Adverbs:  Extremely, too, very, so, really, enough, almost, and hardly.  Billy could hardly wait to get home as his father had bought him a new bicycle.
