2 Adverb Modifies a verb, adjective, or another adverb.
Hint: They often end in –ly. We instantly recognized Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. To find an adverb, eliminate the other words in the sentence that you know.

3 Questions Adverbs Answer
Where? When? How? To what extent? Where: The group stopped here on their trip. When: Will they return soon? How: Everyone played magnificently. Extent: The auditorium was completely full.

4 Intensifier An adverb that defines the degree of an adjective or another adverb. extremely most quite so somewhat nearly rather just really more only too truly very

5 Commonly Used Adverbs Other commonly used adverbs:
afterward, fast, low, often, today already, forth, more, slow, tomorrow also, hard, near, sometimes, too back, instead, next, still, yet even, late, not, straight far, long, now, then

6 Practice & Apply p. 21 Write each adverb in sentences 1-5.
Hint: Look for words that tell how, when, where, to what extent, to what degree
