Next Steps…  Review the Course Selection Guide  Complete the 4-Year planning sheet and course selection sheet  Your student will meet with HS counselors on Mon., March 19 th – Discuss choices at home  Return signed course selection sheets to Mill Creek office by 3/26.  Do your very best for the remainder of the 8 th grade year  Plan to attend the freshmen student and parent orientation in August.

In Summary…  8 th grade students will update their Educational Development Plans and choose High School classes in February  8 th grade students at Mill Creek will take the EXPLORE in March

Avoiding Pitfalls  Failing 1.5 credits (3 semester classes), failing any English class or failing any math class in high school puts a student behind in being able to graduate with their class  Not doing homework and not taking advantage of retesting opportunities are the biggest reasons students fail courses  Algebra I is the course most often failed at CPHS  Remediation and support is readily available – STUDENTS AND PARENTS MUST ACCESS THIS INTERVENTION EARLY!!!
