THE BRIGHT IDEAS MASCOT  What knowledge do I have that can benefit others?  Does my work do what it is intended to do?  Is there a better way of doing it?  How can I solve the problem?  Is it outdated?  What is the activity’s value relative to cost?  Is the data really needed?  How is this kept up-to-date?  What activities can be simplified or made safer, faster or easier?  How can I find solutions to pet peeves or hassles?  What techniques or strategies do other departments use that we could use also?  What services would make the customer’s visit better?  What have I heard someone wish for recently? SUBMIT A BRIGHT IDEA TODAY!!

Submitted by (drum roll): Mary Smith! Mary is an Intake Coordinator in our ER. Her implemented idea: BENEFITS OF THIS BRIGHT IDEA Better communication between our customers and our staff. More exposure for our nurse advice line to people in the community. Mary’s Bright Idea earned her a $50 gift certificate to _______________. Congratulations Mary! Often people call the Emergency Room seeking assistance by describing their symptoms over the phone. They do not know that ER staff cannot review their symptoms by telephone. In the future, our staff should explain this and tell the callers that they are being transferred to the nurse advice line. Staff should be sure that this is clear before transferring the callers so that the caller does not think that they are being given the “run around.” In addition, this process is a free and excellent way to advertise our nurse advice line.

Getting a Bright Idea implemented is a team effort. Next time your team gets together, ask, “What have we heard a customer complain about or wish for today?

Think “Cost- Saving” Bright Ideas! We need two more ideas to reach our goal this quarter– and win a pizza party!

Wattson says, “Know how easy it is to come up with a Bright Idea?” All you have to do is ask yourself... Is there a better, smarter, more cost-effective way to do this? What could be simplified or done quicker? What process could be made safer? What techniques or strategies do other departments use that we could use also? You get the idea. Now turn on your bulb and get those Bright Ideas shining!

Have you had a Bright Idea lately? Did you submit it? Remember, for every Bright Idea that you submit, you receive a coupon valued at $1 that you can redeem in the cafeteria. Just for submitting your idea! It’s that simple! So, what are you waiting for? Start submitting those ideas today!

Help us reach our goal this year. Each implemented Bright Idea submitted in the next month will be eligible for a random drawing. Big Prize – [ Insert prize] Plus, we will draw for 5 pairs of movie tickets. So, “THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX” and get your Bright Ideas IN.

The Bright Ideas Team is challenging ALL departments to reach their goal of 100%. Every department that reaches their goal of 100% will be entered into a drawing to be used within the department. Maybe there is an item that your budget did not cover – this could help you get it. Just imagine the possibilities! So, what are you waiting for? Get those Bright Ideas in today! On your mark... Get set... GO!!!
