Graphic Organisers

Graphic organisers......visual method of organising and summarising information / help student organise disjointed information in a structured way / facilitate generation and development of ideas / expedite the construction of knowledge / aid the learning process / provide active involvement to engage the kinaesthetic learner / work best when used by small groups (pairs and triads) / particularly powerful when groups are structured so that (i) each member has a leadership role/function e.g. Recorder, Researcher, Timekeeper, Clarifier, Turntaker, Summariser, Reporter (ii) resources are shared in the group i.e. one worksheet per group...provide a high quality teaching and learning methodology for mixed ability classroom i.e. students with diverse abilities can work together where each student can make a real contribution to overall learning of group / accommodate needs of students with differing learning styles & intelligences...

Using Graphic Organisers......may be used at all stages of the learning process: Pre-teaching a topic Introducing to a topic Teaching a topic Assessment for Learning Scaffolding Learning Independent Learning Study Revision Mixed Ability VAK Left Brain / Right Brain

Given below are some of the important themes of the Holocaust. Make brief but informative notes on each. How did the Nazis discriminate against the Jews? How did some Jews manage to avoid detection by Nazis? What were the ghettos? What were conditions like there? Why were Jews picked on? What were conditions like in the camps? How were Jews transported to the camps? What happened when they arrived? What evidence have you used? Is it reliable? Do you need more? How were people killed in the camps? When and how were the camps liberated? What evidence can you find of people apart from Jews being persecuted by Nazis? What examples are there of people helping Jews? Why do you think German people allowed the Holocaust to happen? What is the relevance of the Holocaust today?
