ESF 12 Electric and Natural Gas Current Issues Electric Power Mississippi Established contact info for northern Mississippi. Updated the Katrina contact information for southern Mississippi. Tennessee Established contact with TVA who supplies all the power for Tennessee. Nuclear plants Farley NPP in Alabama is not damaged but is still shut down due to the after shocks.

ESF 12 Electric and Natural Gas Florida is not affected by power not being received from out of state because: The grid keeps a 22% reserve capacity (above peak loads) at all times. This 22% represents 10,000 MW. We only receive 3,500 MW from out of state. We institute statewide control methods if the reserve capacity falls to 1,000 MW. There is 45 days of coal and 50 days of oil supplies for the power plants in Florida. Estimated Times of Restoration and Outages – none available at this time

ESF 12 Electric and Natural Gas Natural Gas Power Do not have any reports of actual damages other than the USDOT has said there is major damage in the affected areas. Per PSHMA, there will extreme fire danger on the Mississippi River due to broken liquid fuel lines. PSHMA - Pipeline Safety and Hazardous Materials Administration There has been no reported damage to transmission pipelines in Florida.

ESF 12 Electric and Natural Gas Unmet needs None at this time. Future operations Obtain status reports on electric and natural gas damages, outages and restoration times. Assist in EMAC.
