‘A Healthier Dorset’ Trust Sustainability Strategy & Action Plan Approved by the Trust Board in February 2010 We have a sustainability action plan but No one person can deliver sustainability Copies of the strategy and plan can be made available on request

‘A Healthier Dorset’ The Cycle to Work Scheme Scheme was launched in September 2009 Part of a National Scheme Scheme enables a staff member to lease a bicycle and cycling equipment up to £1,000 – Repaid from salary via a Salary Sacrifice Scheme over a 12-month period A good uptake from across the Organisation Added benefits of a healthier workforce, less vehicles and less congestion on the roads

‘A Healthier Dorset’ Green Office Week 2010 A National Event held from Monday 26 th – Friday 30 th April 2010 Motto for this years’ event was “Turning over a New Leaf” Appointment of 50 Green Office Week Ambassadors around the UK A theme for each day: –Monday – Make a Start Monday ~ Spreading the word and start making a difference..... –Tuesday – Choose Right Tuesday ~Reviewing purchasing and habits, buying more responsibly! –Wednesday - Waste Not Wednesday ~ “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” –Thursday – Think Ahead Thursday ~ Sharing ideas and how we can make a difference..... –Friday – Feel Good Friday ~ Celebrate good times! Share our successes with everyone and pat each other on the back!

‘A Healthier Dorset’ EnvOY Representatives Launched October 2010 EnvOY = The Environment, Organisation & You Dictionary Definition = Diplomatic Agent NHS Dorset: –Uses over 50 premises –Employs about 2500 staff EnvOYs are needed to encourage and support behavioural change in an assigned area of their workplace The role of an EnvOY is –To be pro-active, raising awareness of environmental matters and promoting best practice, and be a local point for information and materials –To provide feedback on issues and are asked to submit a regular short update It’s a Voluntary role – Open to all members of staff, whatever grade, hours of work and work area

Request of an attendance at a Training and Awareness Session On-going support and advice available To date 29 staff have registered their interest These is no end date for recruitment – so anyone can join at any time! Regular updates in the staff newsletter, intranet site, campaigns, events and walkabouts

‘A Healthier Dorset’ Car Share Scheme The Car Share Scheme was set up in order to: –reduce parking problems –aid with any travel plans and sustainable transport policy –reduce travel costs –reduce CO 2 emissions –reduce congestion –provide a more sociable commute to work Launched in November 2010 Staff members can access Scheme through the Trusts’ Intranet site and will be able to register and to check to see if there are suitable sharers So far a number of staff have registered their interest in the Scheme
