3. Chequers What do they do? Motivation Family owned cleaning company Where are they located? Croydon, South London Employment size 100 When car parking demand started to exceed capacity on a daily basis at their Croydon site, Director KateWard saw an opportunity to promote more sustainable travel options via a workplace travel plan,available for free via Enterprise – A New Way to Work. Integrated walking, cycle and public transport map. Merchandise for staff such as rucksacks and umbrellas. Five new hybrid vehicles. “Soft” measures Benefits Reduction of single occupancy car journeys by 29% in 12 months. Savings on car parking thanks to introduction of hybrid cars. 4. Tearfund What do they do? Motivation It is a charity that focuses on major world catastrophes, working with local communities, mainly in Africa. Where are they located? Teddington, South London Employment size 300 Travel plan was implemented for the first time in 2001 as part of the refurbishment of their offices. Main motivation of the organisation are environment and well- being of their staff. 5. CAFOD What do they do? Motivation Charity that deals with poverty and injustice. Where are they located? Southwark, Central London Employment size 250 The organisation has a high environmental awareness committed to reduction of CO2 emissions. Their travel plan was developed to encourage more staff to cycle to work. 40 cycle spaces. Merchandise: cycle tools, rucksacks, etc. Pool bikesfor business use. “Soft” measures Benefits The number of people who cycle to work doubled over one year (currently 22%). 21% of their staff walk to work more than in 2008 (7%). 6. Gemini House What do they do? Motivation The office comprises 4 companies. Two of them are tour agents. Where are they located? Putney, South London Employment size 220 The owner of the building was looking for funds to finance shower facility that was demanded by staff. 12 new cycle parking spaces. One of the toilets was converted into the shower room. Maps and more information on public transport in the area. Staff event and presentations to raise awareness of different travel options to the site. “Soft” measures Benefits All companies recorded decrease in single occupancy journeys with overall 6% reduction. Increase in use of alternative, particularly public transport and cycling in spring and summer.

7. Lion TV What do they do? Motivation Independent TV production company. Where are they located? Hammersmith, West London Employment size 85 Lion TV used the opportunity of free assistance from Enterprise team to develop a travel plan to improve their environmental image and improve their staff well-being. Merchandise for staff. Pool Bikes for business use. Cycle training. “Soft” measures Benefits Business travel savings as a result of purchase pool bikes. Almost half of staff cycle or walk to work. Reduction in single occupancy car journeys from 12% to 6%.

8. Park Inn What do they do? Motivation Four star hotel located 10 minutes from Heathrow Airport. Where are they located? Heathrow, West London Employment size 135 Travel plan development is a result of their accreditation for „Green Tourism” for Business”. Promotional campaigns amongst staff. Production of integrated transport map Merchandise. 20 additional cycle spaces. “Soft” measures Benefits 10% reduction in single occupancy car journeys between 2008 and 2009. Better well-being of their staff at the beginning of the process. Travel plan awareness raised at their neighbours and competitors i.e. Sheraton Heathrow – Joined Bike Week event planned for this year. Employees are better informed about rail discounts that they are entitled because of the airport location.

9. ABC Hire What do they do? Motivation Catering company owned by a family. Where are they located? Sutton, South London Employment size 4040 Travel plan was developed as part of area based travel plan implemented at Kimpton Industrial Estate where the business is located. Shower facility for staff. Cycle to Work Scheme. Promotion of bus and train travel. “Soft” measures Benefits Reduction of single occupancy car journeys from 45% to 17% between 2008 and 2009. Increase in a number of staff cycling and walking to work.

10. BedZED What do they do? Motivation The organisation is located at sustainable residential development and sells environment-friendly building products. Where are they located? Sutton, South London Employment size 4040 Their travel plan is part of their environmental commitments. 18 Byke Bins cycle parking. Travel information stand. “Soft” measures Benefits In 2007 6 % drove to work. In 2009 no of the staff travel that way. Significant increase in cycling.
