 Hazing is defined as any actions taken or situation created, intentionally or unintentionally, to produce mental or physical discomfort on or off campus involving members and/or prospective members, which may cause embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule.

 The Kappa Kappa Psi Fraternity expressly prohibits discrimination by any component part of the Fraternity and Sorority or by any person acting on behalf of the organizations on the basis of race, national origin, gender, religion, handicap, sexual orientation, or marital status.

 From the national constitution  Recognizing the dangers and problems associated with the use and abuse of alcoholic beverages and controlled substances, Kappa Kappa Psi has adopted a comprehensive policy addressing alcohol and controlled substances in connection with fraternity activities and functions. The National Council shall have the authority to take disciplinary action against any district, chapter, or member found to be in violation of this policy. 

 From the Chapter Constitution  The Chapter prohibits the use of alcoholic beverages or controlled substances at any Fraternity event, function, meeting or chapter visit. It is the policy of the Chapter that no article of clothing or jewelry bearing the Letters, Crest, or other identifying marks of the Chapter or Fraternity shall be worn in an establishment where the consumption of alcohol is a primary activity and/or during the consumption of alcohol.

 Break into small groups and get to know the people around you.  Find out names, majors, and instruments.  Be ready to introduce one person in your group to the rest of the class!

 The purpose of these one-on-one interviews is to ensure that each new member gets to know each active member, and vice versa.  Interviews should be conversations that allow you to learn about the people you talk to. If the point was for you to get a list of facts about each active member, we would just give you a list of profiles to read. You can also come away from these interviews with an idea of the variety of ways members can participate in the chapter.  Take some time, have fun with this, and make some new friends!

 Typical Questions: Full Name Instrument Years in Band Major (minor) (expected date of graduation) School address Hometown Birthday Family info (Dad/Mom- occupation, siblings, pets… etc.) Hobbies/ Interests Kappa Family History (Bigs/Littles, what class did you join with? etc.) What past positions have you held in Kappa Kappa Psi? Why did you join Kappa Kappa Psi?

 Now ask at least three of your own questions. Some examples are… ◦ What is your ideal job? ◦ If you could live anywhere where would you live? ◦ Is it soda, pop, or COKE? ◦ If you could be any instrument what instrument would you be and why?  After you are done the Actives will ask you at least 3 questions, if they forget, remind them!

 Must meet with your Big Brother each week.  Study with your Big Brother each week and get their signature for the material you worked on.  You may get signatures from someone other than your Big Brother on two occasions so use them wisely.

 Must meet weekly  Must meet as a class!  Must meet for approximately two hours  Must come prepared for class so it’s productive learning!

 Dress- Business Casual ◦ Men- No jeans, Dress pants and Polo or better ◦ Women- No jeans, Dress pants, skirts or better  Meet- ◦ At Music Hall at the cushy chairs in the lobby ◦ 6:45pm - do NOT be late ◦ Be ready to go to Perkins to eat and socialize afterwards. It’s not required, but it’s too fun to pass up!
