Question from Canada is “are emus very common in Australia? “ Emus are found in every state of Australia except Tasmania. Emus live mostly in New South Wales or Northern Territory. They live in various habitats from semi-arid plains to heathlands, coastal dunes and tropical woodland. They are not found in tropical rainforests. Be careful if you go near a wild emu, because they can still nip food from your pocket or try and nip a finger even though they are scared of humans.

Emus can live for up to 10 to 20 human years! Emus are one of the 7 families of the flightless birds in the world, like kiwis, cassowaries, rheas, tinaous and more...

The average speed of emus is about 50kmh! Which is as fast as a kangaroo. A male can weigh about 30 to 45 kg! And a female can weigh from 35 to 50 kg!

What do emus look like? Emus have no visible wings but the hidden under the blue mixed with brown hairy feathers, they grow between 1.6 metres to 2 high average.
