4. HABITATHABITAT Cassowaries can be found in the far North Queensland rainforest region. Clearing of tropical rainforests have divided the Southern Cassowary population into several small fragile remnants. They are now a protected species. It is believed that there are only 1500 remaining

5. DIETDIET Cassowaries usually eat and berries fruits but have been known to hunt small reptiles and mammals. They are the sole disperser of the larger rainforest seeds. As they travel through the rainforest, there droppings contain the seeds of the fruit they eat, thus sprouting more plants
