–AR Verbs What are they? How do you conjugate them? Why do you conjugate them?

Most Spanish words that end in AR are verbs. hablbailestudiararar = to talk = to dance = to study

All verbs have two parts to them: an ending hablbailestudiararar For AR verbs the ending is… ar!

When you remove the ending, the part that remains is called the stem. hablbailestudiararar

a stem hablbailestudi and an ending ararar Every verb has 2 parts:

AR Hablar Bailar Estudiar ER Leer Comer Aprender IR Escribir Vivir Permitir There are 3 types of verbs in Spanish: AR, ER & IR The AR, ER, or IR tells us which endings to use when conjugating.

you are talking= hablas you talk=hablas are you talking?=¿hablas? Notice how multiple English words translate into one Spanish word.

we are talking we talk = hablamos do we talk? I am dancing I dance =bailo do I dance? you study (to one friend or family member) you are studying =estudias do you study?

D Drop the AR ending. What is left is the VERB STEM. A Add the appropriate subject ending to the VERB STEM. Y You now have the perfect one-word Spanish conjugated verb.
