Exciting changes for the future Currently writing the BSc (Hons) programme Expecting Accreditation for this in Feb 2013 Recognises the increased contribution that ODPs make to patient care delivery Allows additional qualifications and skills to be built into the programme e.g. Role of the First Assistant, Cannulation 2013 will be our first intake of BSc Students

What do Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) do? ODPs care for patients who are in hospital needing surgery Care for patients before, during and after an operation Ensure the safety, comfort and psychological well being of the patient

ODPs checking & preparing the anaesthetic room and equipment

ODPs supporting patients and assisting the anaesthetist

ODPs preparing for surgery

ODPs gowning and gloving

The Qualification BSc (Hons) Operating Department Practice Eligibility to apply for registration with the Health Professions Council (HPC) and membership of the College of Operating Department Practitioners (CODP)

Your Application What we look for: Totality of the application Academic qualifications including – strong GCSE profile: five grades C or above (must include English, Maths and Science – preferably Human Biology. IT would be advantageous) Minimum of 260 UCAS points: From A Levels Must have a Science profile Other equivalent qualifications are considered e.g. BTEC or ACCESS to HE, Science/Health related units as required
