LOCKDOWN EVACUATE SHELTER

If you have imminent danger inside or outside the facility then you must lockdown.

 Make lockdown announcement  Notify 911  Immediately go to nearest securable location  Secure the office doors if possible  Close the blinds and cover the door windows  Turn-off the lights  Maintain silence  Wait for further instructions

If the emergency makes it more dangerous to stay in the building than to leave, then you must evacuate.

 In certain situations using, Lockdown procedures may not be appropriate. In this case Run/Hide/Fight may save your life. These procedures are utilized for ADULTS only. If you realize you are in an active shooter situation: Run – If safe to do so, leave the area as quickly and quietly as you can, attempt to convince others to follow, lead the way, use any method or path possible to leave the area (doors, windows, stairways, etc.) Hide – If you cannot safely leave the area, hide or secure yourself as completely as you can, behind locked doors, under tables./desks, in closets, on floor of vehicles, etc. Out of sight of the perpetrator(s). Fight – If all else fails use anything available as a weapon, sticks, bricks, rocks, ash trays, tools, tableware, trash cans, books, etc. to disrupt or deter the shooter. Remember you are Fighting for your life!

 Three types of shelter alerts  Public Safety  Severe Weather  Outside Hazardous Materials Release

 Police or fire incident near the facility  Lock exterior doors  OSET maintains security of the exterior doors  Work will continue  OSET questions arriving visitors to determine visitors business

 Evacuate relocatables  Move to identified weather-safe areas of the building  Monitor weather information

In your building, go to the smallest, most- interior rooms and hallways on the lowest floor. Stay away from areas with glass or rooms with open, wide-span roofs such as cafeterias. In hallways shut fire doors. Get down on the floor and cover your head.

 A reverse evacuation is used when a dangerous situation outside requires staff to be directed back to the facility  Communication Drop, cover, hold are responses to a possible earthquake
