3 Severe Weather Re-Location
When used: When a Tornado Warning as been issued or wind speeds are at a significant rate of speed What to do: Rooms with windows or other designated areas will re- locate to another classroom Teachers are aware of these rooms and maps are posted Thursday, March 8, 2018 ***Wait for the PA announcement to perform a severe weather drill***

5 SHELTER IN PLACE When Used: Chemical spill in the area What To Do:

7 SECURE THE BUILDING When Used: a threat is outside the building (police chase, suspect at-large) What to Do: Everyone must be inside the building and secured behind a locked door Move to a location least visible from the outside Stay in a secure location until directed by school administration If possible, continue instruction Thursday, March 8, 2018

When used: When there is a threat inside the building What to do: All students should be in a classroom. If you are in the hallway, get to the nearest classroom immediately. 9 Start the lockdown drill when you hear the announcement.
Lockdown (cont.) Turn off lights and remain completely silent Do not open the door to anyone other than verified police or administration Stay in lockdown until an “all clear” is announced If you are outside, do not enter the building! Find shelter outside or off campus Listen to the teacher for instructions Start the lockdown drill when you hear the announcement. Thursday, March 8, 2018

10 ACTIVE SHOOTER RESPONSE
If you are to ever find yourself in the middle of an active shooter event, your survival may depend on whether or not you have a plan. The plan doesn't have to be complicated. There are three things you could do that make a difference: Run. Hide. Fight. Thursday, March 8, 2018

11 RUN When an active shooter is in your vicinity:
If there is an escape path, attempt to evacuate. Evacuate whether others agree to or not. Leave your belongings behind. Help others escape if possible. Prevent others from entering the area. Call when you are safe. Thursday, March 8, 2018

12 HIDE If an evacuation is not possible, find a place to hide.
Lock and/or blockade the door. Silence your cell phone. Hide behind large objects. Remain very quiet. Your hiding place should: Be out of the shooter's view. Provide protection if shots are fired in your direction. Not trap or restrict your options for movement. Thursday, March 8, 2018

13 FIGHT As a last resort, and only if your life is in danger:
Attempt to incapacitate the shooter. Act with physical aggression. Improvise weapons. Commit to your actions. Thursday, March 8, 2018

14 When law enforcement arrives:
Remain calm and follow instructions. Keep your hands visible at all times. Avoid pointing or yelling. Know that help for the injured is on its way. Thursday, March 8, 2018

15 Run. Hide. Fight. REMEMBER

16 GENERAL SAFETY REMINDERS
Students must have their IDs with them at all times DO NOT prop open exterior doors Report suspicious activity or people Remain calm and quiet during emergencies Listen to all instructions given to the teacher or staff member Refrain from using cell phones during drills or emergencies Thursday, March 8, 2018
