Presentation transcript:

Welcome Back? Those that have quizzes to makeup will have until 3:00 Thursday to do so. I am available during Guided Study today, during Readvisory tomorrow and after school today and tomorrow. Next one-pager is due Friday, Feb. 7. I will get the book title from you tomorrow that you will end up doing the one-pager on. I will only give credit for this book title. I should see you with it all the time and reading when you get the chance. We will begin the c/c final TODAY. If you have been absent, you will have to get caught up quickly! Go to my website to get caught up. Read the information from Jan. 24 on my calendar. You have the same due date as everyone else. If you have extenuating circumstance I need to know about, then speak to me ASAP!

C/C Final We will view version 1 in class today. You should be able to complete side 1 and 2 for VERSION 1 (2013 version) Tonight you will go home and view VERSION 2 on your own and complete side 1 and 2 for VERSION 2. (Kenneth Branagh version). This means you have homework! In preparation for tomorrow, you may want to review the example essay on the website. See Friday, Jan. 24 I will return your sample paragraphs today. There is a power point with do’s and don’ts that you should review for tomorrow on my website. I would have your sample writing with you when you do. This worksheet is part of your final grade and proof that you did your own work. It must be completed to start your essay.

Final C/C Essay You have Thursday and Monday to type. If this won’t be enough time, you have the long weekend to work as well. If you need internet access today, I am here after school for you to use the lab to finish your homework. I will also be here Friday morning from me if you plan on using this option. No excuses! I will grade whatever you have on Google Docs by 3:00 Tuesday, Feb. 4! If this will be a problem, talk to me ASAP! (And I mean some serious health, personal or family problem! And I mean SERIOUS!) This is a MAJOR summative grade and must be completed to get credit for this class.

Lab Schedule…I will count you late. Write this down! Tomorrow meet in lab: – Hours 1 and – Hour Monday meet in E132 hours 1-3 You will have assigned seats in both labs!

C/C Do’s---read these at home tonight! Do have a clear and specific thesis statement. Don’t say it is emotional. What does that mean? What does it look like? Be descriptive. Do have a topic sentence for each paragraph. See example online and on powerpoint tomorrow. Do make use of very clear language when you write about the elements from the chart. Be very clear about what you are talking about. Do make good use of transitions from one idea to another and also when analyze similarities and differences.

More Do’s Do talk about all the unique differences in VERSION 1 in paragraph 2. Do talk about all the unique differences in VERSION 2 in paragraph 3. Do mention each version through the use of transitions. For example: “Unlike version 1, version 2 does this… Do make use of the dialogue used in the film when analyzing elements. When is it used and how? This could help with your grade when done well. Do talk about EACH element separately in each paragraph. What does each element look like in the scene? What is it doing and how does it create the overall meaning? So what? Do use CEW. Do give yourself time to reread and revise. You should have plenty of time to do so!

Don’t’s Don’t use the term “a lot.” It’s lame and unspecific. For example: “The scene has a lot of emotion.” Be specific about the emotion and describe and explain it! Don’t mash up Version 1 and 2 together. Talk about all the unique stuff in version 1 and then in the next paragraph talk about all the unique stuff in version 2. Don’t mash up elements in each paragraph. Treat each element as its own CEW and tie back to thesis always!

Final C/C Fill in worksheet for Version 1…Joss Whedon Be specific. Pay attention to how dialogue is used and see how you can match up the categories with the language. Be specific about the overall feeling or meaning of EACH scene. The more thorough your notes, the better your paper. You don’t want to have to waste time reviewing the film clips when you can be typing. Good luck
