Union catalogue of FE Journals WHO? City College Plymouth Plymouth College of Art South Devon College Bicton College Exeter College Petroc Wiltshire College WHAT? A group formed in 2003 reporting to the Devon College Learning Resources Mangers Group (DCLRMG). Membership – a member of staff who deals with serials from each college in Devon. SWRLS is providing the platform to cement the group and move the ideas forward. Why To design and create an easily accessible online catalogue of journals held throughout the South West by FE Colleges, initially starting with the colleges who are members of the Devon Colleges Serial Group and develop a cohesive method for sharing journals and journal acquisition practice throughout the South West Colleges

Project Aims The story so far….. New member to the group Communication via All titles collated….spread sheet Face-to face meeting held Investigating websites and Moodle page to host information Partnership agreement to be agreed. To support colleges throughout the South West region by providing an online database/catalogue of journals. Provide users with a greater opportunity to access resources that may have been lost through budget cuts and savings. To increase the use of journals throughout colleges in the Region thereby emphasising the importance and need for these valuable resources. To strengthen the links between FE Colleges and create a platform for the sharing of good practice. To increase this resource so that other SWRLS members can add to the catalogue To increase the support of colleagues in training and development

Project timeline Collate titles : May-June 2011 Create policy for requesting and sharing : June-Oct 2011 Website provider to be secured: Oct-January 2012 Test version : Jan-April 2012 Website checked for EDI and accessibility: Apr- May 2012 Journal online catalogue : August 2012 Promoting website through posters, s and VLE: September 2012 (onwards) Share with other SWRLS members: October 2012 (onwards) Incorporate other journal catalogues Done Discussed at meeting, to be agreed at the next meeting Behind schedule: Working with Rebecca Barrington, South Devon College Once website in place this will be able to be achieved
