Continue to achieve great outcomes for communities locally and abroad Membership continues to be rewarding However, we face the challenge of a slowly declining membership. On average: – Our clubs are getting smaller – Our membership is aging – We lose as many members as we attract

4 TITLE | 4 Background - membership development plan Responds to the need to increase membership Based on a target of 3% net growth each year over the next three years Endorsed by Governors, Governors Elect and Governors Nominee in November 2012 The plan was endorsed by the RI board in October 2012 Consistent with RI’s goal for 3% growth each year for next three years

5 TITLE | 5 How the plan was developed Planning workshop in Sydney – August 2012 22 participants: – Past District Governors – Rotarians – Rotaractors (2) – Senior management staff from RI and RDU offices in Parramatta Group broadly representing Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific Islands

8 TITLE | 8 Increase membership diversity Develop clubs which are more reflective of their local community Identify and act on opportunities to increase diversity Provide additional opportunities for non- Rotarians to participate in activities and projects Investigate innovative membership types, club structures and operations Promote inter-club support and activities

9 TITLE | 9 Develop skilled and informed Rotarians Develop effective training teams at District and club level Increase members’ knowledge of Rotary Encourage participation in events and programs which enhance Rotary awareness Promote Rotary information sharing between clubs Encourage and support new members to learn about Rotary Provide additional, quality resources to clubs and districts
