What is Co-op Education? A program which alternates periods of academic study with periods of work experience in accordance with the following criteria: each work situation is developed and/or approved by the co-op department as a suitable learning situation the co-op student is engaged in productive work the co-op student receives remuneration the co-op student's progress on the job is monitored by the co-op program staff the co-op student's performance on the job is supervised and evaluated by the student's co-op employer As defined by the Canadian Association for Co-operative Education (CAFCE)

What Does Co-op Look Like? Alternating – 1 four month and 8 month work terms alternating between academic study. Internship – 12 months of continuous employment with one employer. Start date in May, September or January. StFX Co-op works closely with local and national employers to develop challenging, career-related positions for our students.

Earn Students in the program typically earn between $12-24 an hour on co-op. Typically work a minimum 35 hrs/wk. With the proper budgeting co-op work terms can help offset other education expenses. Complete Co-op 405 and earn 3 credits towards your degree.
