12. The training/ education required for my career is:
The first step to becoming a dietitian is to complete a bachelor’s degree in dietetics or nutrition that has been approved by the Dietitians of Canada (DC).
Next, you must obtain practical experience in the field. This may be acquired through an internship or practicum program. These programs generally last about 40 weeks, and can be completed either while your bachelor’s degree is in progress, or after you’ve graduated. The internship or practicum program you complete must be approved by DC.
In most provinces, the final step to becoming a dietitian is to earn a passing grade on the national registration exam. You can then register with your provincial regulatory body.
