2 What is a Pathway Opportunities for more students to earn a high school diploma through various assessment options Students choose appropriate pathway to graduation according to their interests and abilities Pathways are intended to provide a more focused approach to course taking

4 Components of the CTE Pathway
Meet the minimum diploma requirement of 22 credits Pass the 4 required Regents exams, one each in ELA, Math, Science & Social Studies + Approved Technical Assessment and Successfully complete an approved CTE program of study that includes: 3 or more credits of CTE instruction that is rigorous and focused in a specific career pathway Work based learning options A completed employability profile Successful completion of a 3-part industry based national technical assessment* *From Approved Alternate Technical Assessment list Students exit school with a Regents diploma and a Technical Endorsement

5 CDOS Pathway Regents approved the CDOS Pathway in June for ALL STUDENTS

6 Components of the CDOS Pathway
Meet the minimum diploma requirement of 22 credits Pass the 4 required Regents exams, one each in ELA, Math, Science & Social Studies +complete the requirements for the CDOS Credential in Option 1 or Option 2 Students exit school with a Regents diploma and the CDOS Credential

7 CDOS Credential Components
Option 1 Complete a Career Plan Demonstrate achievement of the CDOS learning standards 1, 2, & 3a Successfully complete at least 216 hours of CTE coursework and/or work based learning experiences, of which at least 54 hours must be in WBL Complete an employability profile Completed 12 years of school excluding kindergarten

Option 2 Meets the requirements for one of the nationally recognized work readiness credentials including, but not limited to: National Work Readiness Credential SkillsUSA Work Force Ready Employability Assessment National Career Readiness Certificate WorkKeys (ACT) and Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment Systems (CASAS) Workforce Skills Certification System

9 CDOS Credential No minimum credit requirement
No Regents exam requirement but students must have access to Regents level coursework Complete all the requirements for Option 1 or Option 2 Students exit school with the CDOS Credential

Job Shadowing Community Based Work Program Community Service/Volunteering School-Based Enterprise Senior Project – Specific criteria Possibility of WBL hours within an approved CTE program Must be under the supervision of the school district

12 WBL Hours Within an Approved CTE Program
Students in approved CTE programs do not automatically receive WBL hours Independent demonstration of mastery of skills within a CTE classroom to provide a service or produce a product for a customer Student must be enrolled in CTE course/program taught by a certified CTE teacher

17 Worker’s Compensation
Students must not be placed in a business that does not have Worker’s Compensation Insurance Exception – Any student providing non- manual services(i.e. answering phones) for a religious, charitable or educational institution (covered under Section 501 (c) (3) of the IRS tax code is exempt from mandatory coverage

18 Role of the WBL Coordinator
Collaborate with classroom teacher and businesses for safety training and work site placements Track student(s) schedule and attendance Visit each worksite prior to placing students and while students are participating Responsible for all appropriate paperwork Ensures all parties sign required documents Maintains all paperwork in student file Collects signed hour sheets from business Connects with current and potential businesses throughout the year Assist in documentation on employability profile
