Our role: To personalise a learning programme, where appropriate; To provide homework support; To deliver and monitor IEPs; To provide termly reports, with individual actions and targets; To assess and provide Literacy and Numeracy, Social Skills/ Communication and Behaviour interventions; To offer the ‘Rainbow’ lifeskills programme for boarders; To run a College Link course for 10J and Tasters for Yr 10s; To provide Careers Advice, Information and Guidance with the support of Fiona Dewey; To offer a Work Experience block week in July 2015; Young Enterprise, Duke of Edinburgh, vinspired & school trips.

Yr 10 Curriculum We aim for each student to achieve as many GCSEs as they can: 10T 8 GCSEs: English, Maths, Science (2), ICT, RE, Catering, Art/Textiles. 10J 7 GCSEs*: English, Maths, Science (2), ICT, Catering, Art/ Textiles. 10J will also be attending a vocational college link course on a Friday morning. *Some students will be entered for Entry Level Certificates.

Changes to GCSE exams: Government has strengthened all GCSEs, introducing marks for spelling punctuation and grammar (SPAG) Linear exams at the end of the course in Year 11 ‘Re-sits’ are now limited No coursework: prescribed ‘Controlled Tasks’ in practical subjects Tiered papers restricted (eg English). Maths to be tiered. Science GCSEs have more challenging syllabuses. Exam Concessions more rigorous: 25% extra time, a time prompt, a reader and/or a scribe.

What is your role during KS4? 1.To use student diary/ to keep in touch and raise any concerns with your Tutor/KS4 leader. 2.To support IEP & homework tasks. 3.Get student to back up all their work: on computer at home, on USB stick, as attachment. 4.To ensure access to leisure / social time and build independent living skills. 5.To think about post-16 options - visit Open Days. 5.To decide which course and college is best for your daughter’s needs.

Moving ON at 16+ If your daughter goes to mainstream college, her statement will cease. Information from the statement is passed on to the college. This is currently called the Learning Difficulty Assessment (LDA) but will be replaced by the new Education, Health and Care Plan and the new 0-25yrs SEN code of practice. Contact:
