9 Tutorials Every student has a Personal Tutor Tutor sessions last for 70 minutes a week The Personal Tutor is responsible for monitoring progress writing the student reference Weekly Personal Development Periods include assemblies, visits from outside speakers and extra study periods The pastoral curriculum will cover areas such as careers/H.E., employability, finances and health & welfare Please contact the Personal Tutor if you have any concerns

13 Homework All students at the College are expected to study outside of their lessons. This is essential to their success. For each level 3 subject, we expect a student to study for at least four hours per week. For a level 2 student, at least two hours per subject. Assessed homework will normally be returned to students within 10 working days. Students that don’t work hard outside College will be supported by the College in order to develop this skill.

14 Target-setting and progress monitoring Students will be set aspirational target grades for each subject If they achieve the grade, they will be in the top 25% in the country for students in their ability band. Many students achieve higher grades than their target! Reports and progress monitoring interviews will focus on progress to targets, with extra support where needed You will receive five reports a year from College for your son/daughter These will report on progress to target grade, attendance, punctuality, effort (in class and effort out of class) The final report is a more detailed, written report from each subject teacher in addition to grades, effort, attendance and punctuality.

16 Additional Student Support All students complete an initial assessment to identify any possible support needs (e.g. literacy, numeracy, dyslexia) Students that may require additional support are assessed and have regular appointments with designated staff. We have specialist workshops for students with learning difficulties, such as dyslexia We have a mentoring programme, in-class support and regular reviews for students with health problems or physical disabilities We hold regular reviews to monitor students with depression or anxiety issues, alongside counselling if required We have specialist support for those with welfare issues or complex needs. We liaise without outside agencies where appropriate.

21 Higher Education and employment We aim to equip students with the knowledge and skills to be good careers planners throughout their lives. We deliver sessions on research skills, careers planning, application and interview skills. We pride ourselves on the support we provide for students in completing applications. We provide up to date information and advice all year round for students. We offer an ‘Applying for H.E.’ evening for parents and an HE roadshow for students 677 students have taken up Higher Education places in 2015

24 Parent Governor The College has a very active and dynamic Governing Body that plays a very important role, contributing to our success. There are two positions for parents on the Governing Body and we are always keen to hear from people that may be willing to make a contribution.
