Air pollution Help !! I Can't Breath

We All Cause air pollution We cause air pollution when we use electricity, other home fuels and transportation . We also cause air pollution indirectly, when we buy goods and services that use energy in their air production and delivery. most of this air pollution we cause results from the burning of fossil fuels like coal ,oil ,natural gas and gasoline

Carbon dioxide (co2) is a good indicator of how much fossil fuel is burned and how much of other pollutants we cause to be emitted . Using co2 as an example ,the united states is one of the most countries that cause pollution , the average family in the United states causes air pollution in the following ways :

CAUSES Cars, buses and other modes of transport Fossil fuels burning Sulphuric acid CARS BUSES AND OTHER MODES OF TRANSPORT RUN IN THE FUELS PETROL OR DIESEL TRANSPORT RUNNING ON THESE FUELS PRODUCES POLLUTIONG SUCH AS CARBON MONOXIDE GAS , NITROGEN OXIDES AND UNBORN HYDROCARBONS. WHEN WE BURN FOSSIL fuels (especially coal ) , sulphure dioxide is made and released into the air . When sculpture dioxide dissolves in rain water it makes sulphuric acid . Sculphture dioxide + water = sulphuric acid Sulphuric acid is much stronger than carbonic acid and causes damage to rocks, animals, and plants .

Effects The main effect of air pollution is acid rain which causes severe damage to fish and other water animals. The acid and causes damage to rocks, animal and plants

Water pollution

The main contributors to pollution are : Causes : The main contributors to pollution are : Agriculture: which causes pollution by fertilizer , herbicides and pesticide, ( to kill weeds) ( to kill pets ) Individuals can help by not washing things like paints, paint strippers, ect down sinks or flushing then down the toilet

Industry: industry has potential to cause serious pollution by dumping material , including poisons , into water

People activities: Sewage plants treat waste water before it re-enters rivers or the sea , and they remove some harmful products Individuals can help by not washing things like paints, paint strippers, ect down sinks or flushing then down the toilet

Health effects of the pollution we cause : Like ozone and particular matter, cause respiratory and other health problems , particularly in children and elderly

Environmental effects Indirect effects include increases in infection disease , Weather-related deaths . And food and water shortages . All these effects put a stress on ecosystem and agriculture, and threaten our planet as a whole

Causes: land pollution Recycle your rubbish , it all ends in a large hole in the ground certain materials (e.g plastics ) are non-biodegradable and do not decay into the soil Glass , cans , certain plastic and paper are all materials that are easy to recycle . Most supermarkets have recycling bins on their property

Effects The effects on the human health , animals , agriculture and the environment and so on its effects on the economy

global warming Pollution made a lot of changes on our environment one of them was the climate changes which caused the global warming

What Is global warming The progressive gradual rise of the earth's surface temperature thought to be caused by the greenhouse effect and responsible for changes in global climate patterns. An increase in the near surface temperature of the Earth. Global warming has occurred in the distant past as the result of natural influences, but the term is most often used to refer to the warming predicted to occur as a result of increased emissions of greenhouse gases

causes of global warming The main causes are man-made causes probably do the most damage . There are many man made causes pollution as one of the biggest man-made problems pollution comes in many shapes and sizes

Percent of producing carbons The cause General information Percent of producing carbons Power plants Carbon dioxide emissions stem from the burning of the fuels for purpose of electricity generation 40% Cars and trucks Carbon comes of burning of gasoline 33% Buildings Building structure account for about 12% of carbon dioxide emissions 12% Green houses While carbon dioxide is the principal greenhouses gas, methane, is second most important according to the IPCC methane is more than 20 times as effective as CO2 at trapping heat in the atmosphear 15%

Sequences of global warming 1- natural accidents like twisters , forest , fires , heat waves , dryness , flowage and draughts

Drought in Ethiopia Hurricane

2- changes in the food cycle which causes hunger in many countries 3-negative effects on the economic 4- health effects

Global warming made a huge changes in the climate *Global warming made a huge changes in the climate . Our whether is getting more heat and ice is melting which made the sea level rise and all of that was a reason for many natural accident 2 happen *changes on whether also effected on the agriculture which normally effected at food cycle and was a cause a hunger and death at the end . Climate related catastrophes in poor countries are likely to spiral out of control unless action is taken to tackle global warming … *changes at the food cycle effected and human health have economic impacts

The impact of global warming in Asia      Heat waves and periods of unusually warm weather      Ocean warming, sea-level rise and coastal flooding      Glaciers melting      Arctic and Antarctic warming

Malcolm Rodgers said “ country is being devastated by these so-called natural disasters , and we and others are simply picking up the pieces . The terrible irony is that the poorest countries are suffering and we believe this is because of pollution by the wealthiest “ he also said “we talk about natural accidents or disasters , or acts of god , but they are actually the acts of human beings we have changed nature “

The ozone hole

What is Ozone? Ozone is a molecule of three oxygen atoms bound together (O3). It is unstable and highly reactive. Ozone is used as a bleach, a deodorizing agent, and a sterilization agent for air and drinking water. At low concentrations, it is toxic.

Ozone is found naturally in small concentrations in the stratosphere, a layer of Earth's upper atmosphere. In this upper atmosphere, ozone is made when ultraviolet light from the sun splits an oxygen molecule (O2), forming two single oxygen atoms Each single oxygen atom then binds to an oxygen molecule to form ozone. Stratospheric ozone has been called "good" ozone because it protects the Earth's surface from dangerous ultraviolet light

Although ozone pollution is formed mainly in urban and suburban areas, it ends up in rural areas as well, carried by prevailing winds or resulting from cars and trucks that travel into rural areas. Significant levels of ozone pollution can be detected in rural areas as far as 250 miles (150 km) downwind from urban industrial zones.

Effects of Ozone

When you inhale ozone, it travels throughout your respiratory tract When you inhale ozone, it travels throughout your respiratory tract. Because ozone is very corrosive, it damages the bronchioles and alveoli in your lungs, air sacs that are important for gas exchange (see How Your Lungs Work for details). Repeated exposure to ozone can inflame lung tissues and cause respiratory infections.

Ozone exposure can aggravate existing respiratory conditions such as asthma, reduce your lung function and capacity for exercise and cause chest pains and coughing. Young children and the elderly are most susceptible to the high levels of ozone encountered during the summer. In addition to effects on humans, the corrosive nature of ozone can damage plants and trees. High levels of ozone can destroy agricultural crops and forest vegetation.
