North Yorkshire’s Mental Health Strategy 2015 – 20: Hope, Control & Choice

Hope, Control and Choice – Mental Health Strategy Vision We will work together to ensure the people of North Yorkshire have the resilience to enjoy the best possible mental health, and to live their lives to their full potential, whatever their age and background, supported by effective, integrated and accessible services across all sectors, designed in genuine partnership with the people who need to make use of them and those who care for them Vision is inspired by the over-arching vision of the NY Joint Health & Wellbeing Strategy; “People in all communities of North Yorkshire have equal opportunities to live long healthy lives”. 5 year strategy. Due for an update. Stacey Annandale is the countywide commissioning lead on the strategy. For local feedback and implementation, please still use us. Strategy Implementation Group & Action Plan.   Time to Change Organic Hub - A Time to Change Hub is a partnership between people with their own lived experience of mental health problems (Champions), representatives from health and wellbeing boards, local authorities and mental health/voluntary sector organisations. Partners work together to deliver their own anti-stigma campaigning activities. These support schools, workplaces and communities to take action. Workplace Wellbeing Award: Workplace health award developed for North Yorkshire businesses Piloted with three local businesses Launched March 2019 Provides a structure and support programme for organisations  who want to improve the health of their employees. Includes action on mental health in the workplace Suicide Prevention – Multi-Agency Suicide Surveillance Group & NY Suicide Action Plan (available on NY Partnerships Website)

“Hope, Control & Choice” Strategy Implementation Countywide Mental Health Strategy Implementation Group: Multi-Agency Representation Principles of Co-Production & Partnership Mental Health Strategy Delivery Plan Public Mental Health & Prevention Partnership Group Suggestions on Locality Implementation New Group? Via CCT? There is a countywide governance group for the implementation of the strategy, and it is anticipated that locality activity will feed into this, and also that the countywide group will steer locality activity (feed up & down). In this area, there are two strategies, and you will hear from Sasha Bhat shortly, so there is a requirement for us to deliver the priorities & achieve the outcomes from both strategies. Many of you will be aware of the great work of the Craven Mental Health & Wellbeing Forum in coordinating some of this work in Craven. Following the decision to end the Forum, there is an opportunity to consider how we will implement the strategies in this locality going forwards. Because CCT has great and growing representation from people and organisations across Craven, we would like to see this become part of this partnership. We will be asking for further feedback on this through the partnerships’ broad network.

Joint Work with BAWC CCGs Represented at BAWC Mental Health Partnership Board & Delivery Groups BAWC CCG represented at NYCC Mental Health Implementation Group & Public Health & Prevention Group Represented at other BAWC Strategy Groups ie. Dementia Represented at BAWC Health Care & Housing Network Relationships Regular updates & sharing of implementation plans Craven Communities Together Collaborative Approach Since coming into post at the beginning of the year as Locality Commissioners, we identify that a large part of our role is around understanding our community assets and services, and establishing good relationships with all people and organisations in our communities. We recognise that the landscape, and often services are different to the rest of North Yorkshire, and it is therefore important, and we are working hard, to create relationships with the CCG and have Craven representation at BAWC Groups, championing the needs of the locality.
