2 Aims of today: To provide you with information about North Yorkshire County Council’s Social Care Mental Health Review, and what this will mean for mental health services in North Yorkshire To provide you with details of what will be happening as part of the review, and how people can get involved Provide an opportunity for you to have your say on what you think is working well and what we could improve

3 What is NYCC Health and Adult Services doing about mental health?
Health and Adult Services Social Care mental health review- aim to develop proposals for what an adult social care mental health offer should look like for North Yorkshire NYCC delivers a number of statutory and non-statutory services, as part of secondary care mental health, in partnership with Mental health trusts (TEWV and BDCT for Craven). Also commissions local VCS organisations to deliver some support. Signed up to delivery of NY Mental Health Strategy- ‘Hope, Control and Choice.’ Partner in delivery of local mental health improvement programmes (Crisis Care Concordat, Future in Mind).

4 HAS Social Care Mental Health Review
Why? Review required of partnership arrangements with health trusts Contracts with VCS due to end, and requirement to go out to competitive tendering exercise. Future model will consider what the best balance is between what is delivered directly by the Council, and which will be delivered by organisations on it’s behalf In-house services Commissioned services

5 Review of services delivered by NYCC
Service and support delivered by NYCC includes Mental Health Act assessments, advocacy, recovery support and support for carers. Delivered in partnership with local health trusts Arrangements need to reviewed so that services are line with requirements (including the Care Act, 2014) and meet the needs of people in North Yorkshire. Key work programmes- Recovery, AMHP, workforce. Timescales

6 VCS commissioned services
9 VCS contracts within scope of review All contracts currently due to end 30th Sept Current annual investment £367k pa. CCG’s also provide some funding. Provide a range of community-based support. Eligibility: mixture of open access/accessing secondary mental health services

Mental Health Resource Centres Social Inclusion Employment support Peer support Outdoor activities

What would this look like? What could we do differently to move towards an ideal mental health support system? What actions need to be taken to achieve this?
