What is gender inequality, and how can we fix it?

What is Gender equality? Gender equality is the state in which rights or opportunities is unaffected by gender. Gender equality is measured by looking at the representation of men and women in a range of roles What is Gender Inequality? Gender inequality is the state in which rights or oppurtunities is affected by gender Gender inequality is the idea and situation that men and women are not equal

Then and now In the 1980s there was 65% of women in the labour market compared to now a days where its 82% Women have different levels of power than men Until women become the head of their job/cooperation they do not hold the levels of power Women make 74.2 cents to every dollar a man makes where as in 1984 women made 65 cents compared to every dollar a man made

Then and now Gender based violence affects approximately half of Canadian women In 2015, 12% of board seats of TSX-listed companies were held by women 29% of the companies had one female director, while nearly half had no women on their boards at all  Of the 710 companies, only 5 reported having a board comprised of 50% women. Despite women preforming better in education, it still hasn’t resulted in women leading high end companies

Gender equality will reduce poverty. Gender equality also expands labor markets and improves employment opportunities for all. With women now representing 40 percent of global labor force and more than half the world's university students, overall success will increase if their skills and talents are used more. Gender equality in education contributes to higher economic growth. Over the past 50 years, education attainment has increased for women and girls accounts for about 50% of the economic growth.

Possible solution We have to make sure that institutions become more capable of dealing with women who wish to have power so that they can also have children and be able to bring them up properly We need more coverage on this topic and for people to realize this is unfair and that women and men do equal things, yet men get more recognition for it We need videos, posters, news reports on this topic and it is something big that needs to be fixed and for women to have their voice and a say in society. And to give women proper recognition and allow women into power and ignore the gender difference

Governments’ take on this Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, a self-proclaimed feminist, came together with the prioritization of gender equality on the national agenda. On the eve of International Women's Day which happens in Canada on March 8th every year, it is important to acknowledge how far we have come in gender equality and what we are still trying to achieve.

A one-year increase in health expectancy for women could raise a nation's  product by up to 4% In conclusion gender equality will help Canada become a more multicultural and diverse place where society can safer and more involved.
