From Here to There (continued…) Naviance Student will help you get there!

By the end of the School year *By the end of the School year* Have at least one school that fits into each of the following categories: Safety- Academic, Financial Profile, and Personal Inclinations exceed all the previous years admission and personal criteria Comfort -Academic, Financial Profile, and Personal Inclinations meet all the previous years admission and personal criteria Reach - Academic, Financial Profile, and Personal Inclinations meet only some the previous years admission and personal criteria

Please keep in mind - A Safety School is not a Safety School… … Unless you are willing to attend!

How do I determine where I fit into reach, comfort and safety categories; how do I develop this list???

Factors Colleges use to determine Fit Grade Point Average High School Curriculum / Decile Standing Standardized Test Scores College Essay Community Service, Activities, Letters of Rec Athletics ?

Why do you think that GPA and Test Scores are listed at the top and largest part of the triangle? They are the most important!!!! Naviance scattergrams can help you determine how you fit a school’s requirements, using GPA and Standardized test scores alone…

Now that you know what they want… What is important to you Now that you know what they want… What is important to you? What college fits your inclinations? It is time to decide what you want…

What are the factors for you to consider? Location/Distance Setting Cost Size Programs (among many others!!)

Use Naviance to help you find the college that is the right fit for you… Open CRHS North’s Web Page Click on Counseling Click on Log on – user name – e-mail address

First Order of Business… Under the about me tab: Update Account information!!!!!!!!! Pay particular attention to name, birthdate and email...

Just a heads up, if you are using Common App When you create your common app account you must use the same email that you use for naviance or change your Naviance email!!! Naviance and Common app are partnered…

Second Order of Business… Complete The “Game Plan” Survey in Naviance Student …is a series of questions that are designed to help your counselor work with you to develop a game plan for achieving your goals after graduation. It asks you to take a consider those factors you want! Click here to access instructions for completing the survey!

Third Order of Business... Complete a college search!

What’s Next? Heart colleges aka - Place colleges on your list in the colleges I’m thinking about section in naviance… Why…

If you do, you will receive automatic informational emails for college rep visits and other info! See colleges visiting our high school under colleges home and scroll to bottom of screen!

What to do now??? Register for SAT/ACT and/or SAT Subject Tests this spring on collegeboard.com Include your parents!! – you both must be on the same page!!

And after that… Visit, Visit, Visit (up to 3 excused absences to visit colleges )

And then… I will send you and your parents an invitation to meet together, to finalize your list of colleges. Look for an email in late April or early May!! (helpful to have an SAT score at time of meeting)

And before you leave for summer… If you need teacher letters of recommendation, ask your teacher if they are willing, and if so, ask them for his/her policies and procedures. **** Please keep in mind, all colleges do not require letters of recommendation.; therefore please be considerate of your teachers time, by not requesting unnecessary letters of recommendation. PA State Universities – Do not require letters of rec, Temple and Penn State included Click here for Teacher Rec Request Procedures!

Counselor Letter of Recommendation In order to obtain a counselor letter of recommendation you will need to fill out the counselor letter of recommendation survey in Naviance Student. To find the survey – click about me home and look in the left hand box under my surveys!
