2. Timeline for seniors September Register for the SAT/ACT
Finalize your list of colleges
Make an appointment with your counselor
Check Senior courses. Do they meet requirements?
Sign up for college rep visits
Complete the common app/school app
Complete your college essay
Ask your teachers for letter of recommendation

3. Meet with your counselor to discuss the college list

4. Create your College List in Naviance Go to Family Connection, colleges tab, colleges I’m thinking about

5. Click Add to the list Under My Interest Click First Choice, etc… schools Click Look Up and search for your colleges

6. Check box next to colleges you are applying to and Click “Move to Application List”

7. Applications
Check which schools accept the Common Application (this will be indicated on your list in Naviance).
If using Common App, use the same username and password as Naviance.
Complete all applications by our office deadlines.
Complete all writing supplements if your schools require them.

8. Complete FERPA agreement on the Common App website After student creates their CA Account using the same username and password as in Naviance, they must add at least 1 college on the Common App and enter their high school information under the “Education” portion of the CA in order for the “Recommenders and FERPA” Tab to be visible

12. Counselors will sit with students while they log onto Naviance
Counselors will sit with students while they log onto Naviance. In their Family Connection, go to Colleges Tab, “Colleges I’m Applying to” in order to match the FERPA to the student’s Naviance account It will show incomplete until the accounts match

13. Once the CA and the checklist are complete, the student can now submit their CA application/school specific application and fill out a Transcript Release Form

14. Next Steps
Student will sit with Mrs. Verespej or Mrs. Mallon to submit their transcript release forms.
Student should have completed the self-evaluation and resume at this time for their counselor. The parent questionnaire is optional but encouraged. All forms can be found on Naviance in the document library.
Students should sign up to meet with admission representatives through Naviance.

15. Important Dates
* Transcript requests for applications with November 1 deadlines must be into guidance by October 17.
* Transcript requests for applications with November 15 deadlines must be into guidance by October 31.
* Transcript requests for applications with December 1 deadlines must be into guidance by November 9.
* Transcript requests for applications with deadlines of January 15 or sooner NEED Transcript request forms submitted to the Counseling Office NO LATER THAN Wednesday, December 7, 2016
TRANSCRIPT REQUESTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED BETWEEN DEC 8, 2016 AND JAN. 2, 2017 NO EXCEPTIONS!!

16. Letters of Recommendation
Ask the teacher in person if he/she would be willing to write a letter. Your teacher may ask for a copy of your resume.
It is the student’s responsibility to see that you give a teacher ample time to complete a recommendation before your college application deadline.
Request the teacher in Naviance ( New recommendation system this year).
Once completed, the teacher uploads your letter into Naviance and recommendations are sent directly from the guidance office to your colleges.
You can now check the progress of your letter on Naviance.
Remember to write them a thank you note!

Select which colleges you would like the letter to go
You can then check the progress of you your teacher letter

19. Sending Scores to colleges
Students are responsible for sending their scores to colleges
For SAT, go to collegeboard.com to send scores
You can select up to 4 schools for free on the SAT test.
For ACT, go to ACTstudent.org to send scores.
