2. Senior Meeting
Meeting with the student and his/her counselor, parents do not attend these meetings

Before senior meeting complete the Senior Letter of Rec Survey on NAVIANCE/ Parent Input for Rec Letter

3. Internal Application Process
15 Calendar Days Turnover Time! (over 1700 school packets processed last year)
You should have already filled out the yellow “Authorization for Release of Transcript” form and returned in to the counseling office.
Complete a “Recommendation Letter Follow-up Form” for each teacher you asked for a rec letter in the spring and get that form to them ASAP. Teachers have been asked to upload their recommendation letters no later than 10/15

4. Internal Application Process continued
Submit an “Application Submission Form” for each college to which you have applied. The 15 day processing time begins when this form is received in the counseling office.
Send your SAT or ACT scores directly from ACT or College Board to each college/university
Check NAVIANCE to see when materials have been submitted to college
Senior meetings are being scheduled - please make every effort to make it to your meeting

VIEW ALL THE COLLEGES THAT WILL BE VISITING GREAT VALLEY AND SIGN UP TO ATTEND
Also, found on the College tab you can view all the colleges that will be attedning Great Valley High School this fall and sign up to attend the information session during the school day.

You do not need to click on this. Teachers will upload their letters as long as you follow up with them and the counselors will send the letters as requested on the application submission form.

8. Completing The Common App FERPA Agreement
Applicants will submit the FERPA decision on their Common Application account
FERPA question is answered when you add your first college to the application. Under the “My Colleges” tab of your application.
In order for the counseling office to send transcripts, counselor recommendations, and teacher recommendations, this FERPA portion MUST be completed and your NAVIANCE account linked with your Common App account. Counselors will assist with this in senior meetings.
The FERPA agreement must be completed for all Common APP schools. Here you will choose whether or nit you waive your rights to access your letters of recommendation. It must be completed directly on the Common APP website and must be completed for the counseling office to send your transcript and recommendations.

9. Once on the common app site, you will create an account by entering your address and creating a password.

14. Before matching Naviance, you will first need to create your common app account. There is a direct link on Naviance or you can go directly to commonapp.org. Once you have completed the FERPA agreement, you will then come back to your Naviance account enter your address used for the common app and then click match.

15. Coalition Application
You should find your high school CEEB Code but you can also search by city (Malvern, PA)
Please do not enter your recommenders or counselor on the Coalition Application.
We will use NAVIANCE to submit the school packet to these colleges, just as we do with the Common Application.
You will need to check the box on each application that indicates your materials will be submitted in another manner.

17. Swarthmore College Requires one transcript
Swarthmore College Requires one transcript. If you have attended more than one high school, Talk to your counselor to determine if you will need additional transcript information sent separately. I will be sending my Current Transcript separately and acknowledge it is my responsibility to ensure it is received by Swarthmore College. If the college is a “self-report” college and does not require a transcript this box will not appear. Just scroll tot the bottom and click continue skipping this page all together.

19. Completing the Senior Letter of Recommendation Survey
Student
If the student hasn’t already done so, we ask all students to complete their survey. The counselors use this information to assist in completing their letter of recommendation.
Parent
The parent also has there own version of the survey to complete. The parent survey can be completed only by using the parent account and can not be found on the student’s account. Completing this survey assists counselors to complete the student’s recommendation.
There are two separate senior letter of recommendation surveys one for the parent and one for the student. We ask that you complete these surveys to assist us as counselors to complete your son or daughter recommendation.

23. Local Scholarships
List of Local Scholarships will be available by March 1, 2018.
The list is sent to senior homerooms, sent to seniors in an , posted on NAVIANCE and the GVHS website, school messenger and available in the Counseling Office.
All scholarship material will be available on NAVIANCE.
Keep checking for updates and additions once the link opens (notices will continue to be sent if additions are made)
All applications, unless otherwise noted, are due in the Counseling Office by April 3, 2018 at 3:00 PM. NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Campus/Study Hall
Students can sign in to the counseling computer lab during campuses to work on applications.
Students with study halls can ask Mrs. McDonnell for a pass to come out of study hall to use the counseling office computer lab.
